I do have some webcomic news for you.
Lost Scent is going on hiatus until April 5th. The authors lost one of their dogs, which is awful. My deepest condolences to them.
Tofauti Sawa will be coming off of hiatus on March 25th.
Sysi, the author of Jumalanpelko has started on their newest comic, Kaikuu, kaikuu. New pages will be posted on Wednesdays.
This round up is a day late because I was not having a great Monday. Fortunately, I am having a better Tuesday.

The war between the lions and the hyenas will have to wait, as we’re checking back in on Mosi and Bibi. Speaking of her, the caracal is looking worse for the wear. She’s putting on a brave face, but she’s probably in no condition to jump or even look after Mondo for the day. I’m really concerned as her vision blurs just before she’s about to jump.
At this point the worse case scenario is that Bibi faints before her jump, or botches her landing and goes tumbling into the gorge. Or all could be fine, but it’s hard to know just how sick whatever she has will make her. I’m hoping that we won’t be seeing the death of another character right after Faida and Kauket bit the dust.

Thresher has gone off to do whatever he’s doing. I stand by the possibility that the king is the one who spread “Hake the Fake” as a name among the Daisys. He’s not likely going off to harm anyone with his genocide plan only days away. Meanwhile, after spending the day with Egret and Petrel, Sturgeon is finally returning with a poisoned mouse for her father. Of course Auklet is upset that she took so long that the king has already had his food for the day.
Going back to the moon, I love how its crescent shape hangs over the entire scene as a grim reminder for Auklet and the audience. Time is ticking and there’s not much room for action left. I feel like uncle and niece probably need to better coordinate on taking Thresher down. For example, if Sturgeon is going to be gone all day, have Auklet catch and deliver a poisoned meal to the king. It’s not like he has a lionheart, so he’s probably free to go where he pleases and do what he wants without anyone thinking twice about it.
I will say, I’ve always been curious about how Auklet’s role in this story comes to an end. We know the genocide likely doesn’t happen, otherwise no surviving Daisy would ever trust the Family again. And we know that the king’s brother isn’t around to see him step down and become a tribute for The Tide. So what exactly happened? Did Auklet decide that poisoning was going too slowly, and botch taking matters into own paws? Perhaps whatever happened was bad enough to make Thresher resign and give himself to the sea. Just a theory, but this entire side plot of Sturgeon working with Auklet (to a degree) has me extremely fascinated.

This page confirms that Eve is overdue, and is taking her sweet time in delivering the fawn she promised Antares. I still maintain my theory that she’s doing so because she wants him to suffer for all his transgressions against the sky. Though I do find it curious that he’s finally asking questions about when the fawn is coming, and reminding Eve that when she delivers, she (and I assume Loss as well) are free to go. I do think Usma running away has gotten to him. That said, he’s still being selfish, as he could easily undo his binds for the gods and release them. If Eve decides to stay after being set free, that’s her own choice.
In fact, if things go further south before she decides to deliver, I wouldn’t be surprised if the star pointed this out herself. Antaras originally captured them to bring Oudia back to life, but that wasn’t possible, so he settled for the next best thing, their fawn. This was only after Eve suggested it. He was more interested in his wife the entire time. There’s no reason to keep the stars bound and let the rest of deerkind suffer as a result. As long as he holds that leash, I think Eve will continue to hold off on her delivery.
So my theory is that she likely won’t deliver until he’s backed completely into a corner, and confronted by Nero’s group, or some other event he can’t control. While we’re on the subject of events and control, that well-placed “CRACK!” effect is curious. Is someone about to confront the pair?
As I expected, the meeting between grandmother and grandson is short, as Agreirr runs off to play with the hares in Ninmah’s den. Sadly, there isn’t much of a conversation between Thakir and the Matriarch either. I feel like Akiulfrs meeting a Liulfr for the first time should have been a bigger deal. She’s the head of the capital no less! Instead, we receive a recap of the battle that saw Romé die, and Jahla blaming herself. (She’s not wrong that her haste was a deadly mistake.) I’m also annoyed that it turns out Ninmah knew about Marduk, but that knowledge gets written off as “whereabouts unknown.”
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Viscountess Lahmina make contact with Asmundr, and make a list of all their names? I’d assume that Marduk was included as well, because it would be strange if he didn’t want to be listed. Did no one pass that information on to the Matriarch? I mean, she knew about the location of the Asmundr pack and was able to give that information to Jahla. This happened after Lahmina’s contact with the pack. So what we have here is a missed opportunity at foreshadowing, and a plot hole. By that I mean, if Ninmah remains ignorant that Marduk is with the Asmundr pack despite the pack registering with Solar Stag Tribe, then there are two possibilities.
One, Markduk refused to give his name to the SST when they registered the rest of the pack. Which both the pack and Lahmina should have found to be concerning. It would foreshadow that he was hiding something about himself. Either he didn’t want to be known more widely among the dogs of Aedra, or didn’t want his name getting back to the capital. Two, he did give his name, it was passed along to Ninmah, and she never put two and two together despite hearing about Marduk from Utu/Father. Which means she continues to be grossly incompetent as a leader.
If we take this story at face value and disregard bad writing, this means that either Marduk lied about his presence, or Ninmah failed to connect the dots. Let’s go with the latter, since Solar Stag is actively rebelling against her. Which is why on the penultimate panel she drops the bombshell of her leaving the tribe, and possibly the island. This basically means she’s lost control of the tribe, and is getting while she’s still able to leave. If Baron Faekas wasn’t such a power-hungry asshole, I’d say Matriarch Ninmah leaving was probably a good thing considering how ineffectual the tribe is as a capital. Honestly, Lahmina might be a slightly better leader and should be in charge since Viscountess is a rank above Baron, but Faekas is likely pushing her aside to grab power for himself.
Anyway, I’m curious as to why Ninmah is leaving now after 30 years of less-than-stellar leadership.
