TWWR Round up 06/01/2026 – Sprinting into Action

Have a Tuesday write-up. I realized I really wasn’t motivated to do much writing yesterday. I spent my time trying to finally finish up Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice. The time was well spent in my opinion, as I finally finished the main game after putting it down twice over the past nine years. Once in 2017/2018 for the 3DS version of the game, and again last year for the Switch collection. But don’t worry, I did read some webcomics this week.

A number of the comics I’m reading are either still on hiatus or are on break this week. So it’s going to be a short article. Since Home has a quirky update schedule (the 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th of each month), it isn’t going to make this week’s round up either. Though I will note that this month Kique has promised five more bonus pages to continue the comic’s 10th anniversary celebration. So look forward to the extra pages, or me writing about said pages, I suppose.

These two cats are adorable together. We have Bibi training Mondo in a way that Africa never really could. Servals and caracals are similar sized cats, so he’ll need to learn certain skills from Bibi that Sabra would have taught him, if she’d survived. The poor kit didn’t manage to catch the grasshopper, but he got a leg, and that’s something. Once he gets the hang of landing, he’ll be snatching prey out of the air in no time.

I also like Bibi’s style. She’s extremely patient and encouraging. She’s been an excellent mother to both Mosi and Mondo. Her parenting style is a bit different from Africa’s, who mostly only has Giza’s harsher style as a point of reference. Though to be fair, she’s been a lot less harsh after being forced out of her own territory, and after the death of Binti. Anyway, I’m enjoying seeing these two smaller cats spend time together. Here’s to hoping whatever sickness Bibi has isn’t fatal, and that she pulls through this story. She deserves all the happiness, especially after going out of her way to make amends for helping Chui.

Having Julia go after the mystery person taking care of the dead bodies in the facility wasn’t something I was expecting. That said, dealing with mysterious people requires action, and Julia has proven over and over again that she’s more than capable of action. I’ve no doubt that she’s got this situation under control. After all, the wolf has a handy, dandy blaster. Which makes me think she probably grabbed it when getting into her space suit in an attempt to rescue Melissa on the lunar base.

That said, I’m curious about the person and the weird purple substance they’re taking from the dead Kae-Kariin. We’ve seen this substance exactly twice over the last few issues of this comic. First was in issue 27, page 33 as orbs of the same color. They seem to contain the memories of individuals, and picking up said orb up allows one to experience their memories first hand. The next instance was the same type of vial in issue 28, page 28. A mutated Kae-Kariin was extracting the liquid from the head of the woman who worked in the facility and was kidnapped, presumably left for dead, and replaced. In fact, if I had to wager a guess this person in the biohazard suit is likely that hedgehog who was replaced with a body double. The short tail fits, and there also had to be a reason why she was featured in issue 28. It’s likely the doppelgänger is here at the request of the person ruling the Kae-Kariin. As for the liquid, it’s most likely memories.

I called it back in April. Antaras is desperate. So desperate that he’s willing to kidnap Iralee and hold her hostage by keeping her drugged up on “dull buds.” I know DoePrince has mentioned that all the plants in this world are fictional, but I can’t help but notice how the buds seem to be based loosely on opium poppies. Considering what opium does in real life, this fictional counterpart is a good choice to keep Iralee sedated and on a very short leash.

That said, between being bashed in the head and drugged, I can’t image the God-caller is willing to help her kidnapper. Even if she does help, I’m not sure how well Iralee can even get through to Eve. What on Earth could she say to make this situation better? How could one even trick a god? The god has her own agenda after all. If Antaras with blood and dark magic inherited from Mousara’s family line couldn’t make Eve do his full bidding, what hope does Iralee have? Sure, she could make an appeal for the rest of deerkind and how they’re slowly dying out, but gods tend to move on their own time. I think our buck is losing his grip on reality as the situation continues to spiral out of control.

I guess him kidnapping a God-caller is his way of trying to maintain some sense of control, but I don’t think this plan of his will work.
