After this roundup I’m going on hiatus for a few weeks. I’m undergoing surgery, and I’m going to need time to recover. Also have a shorter roundup this week due to time constraints and having a lot to say about two particular comics.

Africa | Page(s): 331 | Patreon
Africa goes to Mlinzi to ask her about Safari and his sister. She wants to know if they were close because Safari is sick, and she can’t help him. The dog mentions the two cheetahs had a pretty deep bond. After Africa reveals Safari being sick, Mlinzi immediately becomes indignant. She tells the leopard that her pack is not vet, and there’s no way they’d set foot inside a hyena den. Then she also says handling a leopard cub wasn’t a problem for them, but dealing with grown bone-crunchers is too much. Africa immediately perks up at the mention of humans helping a leopard cub.
It’s happened. This is the moment we’ve been waiting for. Africa finally learns that Mosi is alive. This information didn’t come from Faida telling the truth (though she promised Mosi she wouldn’t), Mosi getting too close to Mondo, or even Africa picking up her son’s scent. No, this one dog with loose lips casually let it slip, where everyone else, including Mosi was hiding this fact. It’ll be interesting to see how she takes the news, especially when she confronts Faida. Will she reunite with Mosi? Probably not any time soon.

Repeat | Page(s): 183, 184, 185, 186 | Patreon (N/A)
The mystery wolf turns out to be Passer. Pages ago they watched as Lun killed and ate their pack. As Tilter tries to comfort them, Passer admits that Pink was right about everything regarding wolves with different colored eyes. Sol appears at the edge of the cave both wolves are resting in, and Tilter tells the sun god to wait outside. Later, Tilter admits Passer is afraid of Sol, and Babble isn’t surprised as the red wolf is quite large. Tilter says the pregnant wolf thinks Sol is a monster waiting to eat them. Babble reiterates that monsters aren’t real, but Sol pushes back. Lun is real, Passer encountered them, and they’re monstrous because they’ve been affected by the fog.
Babble is certain that Lun can’t be fixed by being killed, reborn and raised with kindness. Tilter says there are no other plans. Sol then turns and asks if Passer can live with the pack. The leader says yes, but they have to go hunting soon, and the sun god offers to help. While everyone’s away hunting Tilter keeps Passer company. They ask if Tilter eats wolves too, and the younger wolf states they and Sol just eat regular things, and they’re not monsters. Tilter then tells the pregnant wolf that Lun is a god, much like Sol. After a brief conversation Tilter ask how long until Passer gives birth. They figure it’s about a month, but they’re not ready to think about names or how large the litter will be. Tilter then reveals Sol’s plan to kill Lun, and have them be reborn. With increasing horror, Passer asks if Lun can be reborn anywhere.
Normally I try to keep my roundup limited to Sunday-to-Sunday. I broke that rule for today because Monday’s update of Repeat is too important not to discuss. Also, I’m going on hiatus soon, so this might be my only chance to discuss it outside an article just focused on this comic. So let’s talk about two bothersome topics. First, I remember when Repeat was updating on DA and the topic of Pink’s pack became really contentious. While it was annoying that Pink wouldn’t give Sol or Tilter a chance, Sol’s interaction with them did not refute the lies The Dusk told them. Upon seeing Tilter captured, Sol immediately threatened them with violence before Tilter talked them down. A few nights later night Lun attacked their pack and confirmed all of their fears. Again, Pink was in the wrong for planning to kill Tilter after telling Sol they’d be allowed to leave unharmed, but Sol did absolutely nothing to help the situation. Might doesn’t always make right. A bad as it is, I can understand Pink wanting to end the threat to their pack given their understanding of the situation.
It’s no wonder Passer is terrified of Sol. They saw what Lun did, Sol has similar eyes, and they learned both of these wolves are gods. Now the real kicker on this batch of pages. Sol and Tilter decide to kill Lun so they can be reborn. Now Passer is rightly worried that Lun, the monster that killed and ate their pack might be reborn into their litter. Given Songdog’s comments on this page, including responses to readers this seems to be the route the story is going. It could be a massive fake out, but the writing seems to be indicating this. Passer may be the lone survivor of their pack, is pregnant, and there’s a chance Lun could be among the pups born if Sol kills them.
I get the feeling that if this happens, the author is doing this for pure shock and horror value. This isn’t a good thing. In fact, it’s incredibly fucked up to see the moon god responsible for the death of one wolf’s family among their litter. To burden them with even the passing thought of birthing such a pup is horrifying. What kind of message that supposed to even send? Extreme mercy? Even monsters can be redeemed? I just don’t get why this outcome has the potential to involve their litter. It would be way more merciful to have the litter be unrelated to all the horror Passer has endured. Worse yet, the pups are only a month out, which means they’re already formed in the womb. Would Lun’s death forcibly overwrite one of their pups? Is it soul stealing? Soul possession a la Chakra: Battle of the Titans? How does it all work?
This part of the story seems rushed and poorly thought out. Now it’s possible to start providing some explanations on how this all works. It’s possible I won’t like those explanations either. At this particular moment, this entire conversation and line of thought leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.

Tofauti Sawa | Page(s): 390, 391 | Patreon
The group of lions finally reach their destination and Silver is in awe at the sight of so many lions and cubs. Miwani prepares to disparage the white-maned lion again, but a group of cubs dash past him to greet Leeto. They ask the young male if he had a cool adventure. Leeto boasts it was filled with danger, and when asked how he got out of it, he happily admits Silver saved him. Silver then hypes Leeto’s adventure up by telling the rest of the cubs that it was intense, but that they shouldn’t go on adventures any time soon. They’ll have plenty of adventures when they’re older. The cubs call him “Mister Sun” because his mane is bright like the sun and remark he must have had lots of adventures of his own. The kids find his mane to be cool, but before Silver can utter more than a thanks, Kamau lets him know it’s time to eat.
This interaction with Kamau and Miwani’s pride has been nothing but wholesome for Silver. That said, my paranoia is kicking in. I know Silver is just with the pride to have a quick meal as an apology, but I keep having the unsettling feeling it won’t end well for him. Perhaps Tofauti Sawa has just given me trust issues since I’ve watched this character lose his entire family. Or maybe things will end well, and he returns to Sahara with a chunk of meat. Or maybe she tracks him, and gets the two of them in a heap of trouble. I just don’t know. I guess that’s part of the suspense.

After the raid on the Meteor Tribe, members of the Whispervale Tribe patrol the area. Meanwhile, Ronja and Fraujar have a talk as tribe leaders. Since help has arrived the raiding dogs have fallen back after collecting the dead dog. The Whispervale jarl apologizes for not arriving sooner. Ronja tells him not to worry about it, and that she’s sorry one of the raiders was killed. Fraujar sneers and says they deserved to lose a lot more than a single dog. The Meteor Tribe Viscountess states that fighting back will not help with their reputation, and in trying to gain an alliance with the capital. Fraujar then pushes back saying that even with a Solar Stag alliance, the tribes are ultimately on their own. Axilyah of the Guild knew the attack was coming and said nothing. So if someone intrudes, the best course of action is to rip their guts out. Ronja is hesitant and Fraujar insists that no one wants an alliance with a weak ally.
Fraujar isn’t totally wrong in this respect. Axi did choose to not get involved even though she suspected the Meteors might be the target of a raid. Yes, the capital ultimately leaves the tribes to do what they want. Still, this page feels like a set-up to excuse Roamer’s actions for killing the raider, despite Ronja ordering him not to. It’s clear that her baron is going to avoid any consequences for disobeying an order. It’s okay because the raiders were in the wrong and killing is okay, even though they were carrying out an illegal eviction and didn’t harm anyone. Any chance of getting any recourse from the capital is gone for good.
Still, even if the raiders deserved some pain for attacking them unprovoked, Ronja’s weak leadership continues. Why? Because she likely won’t punish Roamer his actions. The death of that one dog could be the spark that leads to greater conflict. There could have been a narrative that the MT wasn’t doing anything wrong, and that the evicting dogs were completely wrong in their actions. That could have led to more tribes seeing that the Meteors truly are different from their days past. Instead, this just reinforces the reality that no one on this island can really be trusted, and that the capital is weirdly both feared and useless.
On a side note, if Keirr had told Fraujar about the attack immediately after learning about it from Rhov, Whispervale certainly could have arrived sooner. Or if Rhov bothered to stop and tell Ronja about the attacking forces on their way back to the capital, the Meteor Tribe could have had a heads-up. But no, both of these dogs are Ronja’s cousins and couldn’t be bothered to do anything sooner. The conflict is so contrived it hurts. The bar for story telling in this comic only continues to get lower. At this point it’ll reach Earth’s core just as Home ends. Maybe sooner.
Again, I’m only continuing to read Home to discover how this messy tale I’ve been following since 2016 ends. Once it’s over, the odds of me following any of Kique’s subsequent works is extremely low.

Yeah I really disliked that page where they decided to hold off on telling others that MT was under attack and that they had a close family member there as a target who didn’t know about it before. But family isn’t important to these dogs only what their relationship status are, it’s infruiting honestly and then that rhov and feaf just do the deed where public eyes could see is just so frikin weird in my opinion, maybe even selfish as thats whats was important to him. i’d be on edge knowing that a family member could be killed by some savages and didn’t do anyhting about it.
It just blows my mind that waiting was even an option. To be blunt, it’s kind of hard for any sane person to worry about being horny when your family and friends are in danger. Even if Rhov and Feaf wanted to consummate their relationship, they could have done so AFTER all the immediate danger passed. I.E., warning Ronja about the raid. Getting back to the capital before Axi, etc. (Heck, even waiting until they were safely at Asmundr.) With their crystals and fire, they could have traveled at night. As the ghouls have been shown not to be that great of a threat. But no, they had to take the selfish route (as you said), and get laid in public first.
As for Keirr, I still don’t get the logic of him waiting to tell his jarl before morning. There could have been a scene where he tells the Fraujar, and it’s Fraujar deciding it’s safer to wait for first light to move a bunch of dogs to aid Meteor Tribe.
Oh those ghouls are worthless, they were probably something interesting kique saw in the start, but then just forgot about them because they ended up becoming boring in his POV. As for keirr, honestly I could care less about his character, though I won’t lie after Asmundr and the start of home he was the more likable brother out of the three siblings. Because to me he came off as more mature than rhov and family oriented, so it reminded me of myself in a way lol. Rhov always came off as too cocky to me etc etc.
But atlas kique ruined his character also, I hated him ever since the page of him blaming Aira for just showing general care towards him. I even shipped them at one point cause it’s like they could have helped each other grow and it was honestly refreshing to see an actual FxM relationship form, dont get me wrong I’m not against’ LGBTQ stuff but the constant MxM is very repetitive and boring. That’s why I liked Aira and keirr together from the start, they both needed support and he even vented to her and she listened. It felt humanely and wholesome to have in the comic instead of using sexual activity as a source (cause no kique it won’t cure trauma).
But then that one page where he yelled at her for fucking caring about him just was the most 180 of his character and then Raun gets the credit for her plan. I was so hoping at one point that there would be a page where Keirr did apologize for being a dick, but in kique’s mind probably, the male is always right and Aira did wrong no matter what. What a shame, but all in all his character became pointless and just playing a side role really as he has yet to really show any care for his own family, like how could you not be worried about your mother and father?
It’s funny. In Asmundr and Home, I didn’t really like Keirr much. He was okay, but too much a stick in the mud. I liked Rhov’s reckless, but ultimately caring nature. But then he was just ruined as soon as he got to Whispervale Tribe.
Kique has admitted he doesn’t like Aira as a character, for whatever reason. So that bias shows up in how Keirr treats her. Which is so messed up because she helped him when his leg was injured. She also took him to Whispervale. Without her he’d be wandering around, possibly lost. And then she didn’t even get the credit for telling Raun and Keirr about the secret of the Meteor lands. And I didn’t ship Aira and Keirr, but I get you on just wanting to see something other than MxM relationships all the time. It was novel at first, but now it seems to be the default. Heck, besides that no one in this comic can just be friends, aside from Kargo and Ferah.
Yes, Keirr went from an okay character to a piece of shit. He’ll never apologize to Aira, even though she did nothing wrong. This story is wild for all the wrong reasons.
Yeah you’re right, maybe I didn’t like rhov as much cause he looked almost like a carbon copy of his dad. But yeah keirr is still a stick in the mud. Maybe it is just me having wishful thinking for a comic that could have been good but sadly is just being dragged in the mud for 4+ years.
As for Aira, I’ve always liked her character because I related to her more. She’s selfless, innocent and so on. When I heard that Kique stated she’s his least favorite character, it made me think, is it because she’s disabled? To me I thought it was like him hating on a disabled person and probably why he pulled another 180 and got rid of her scars and her legs were magically fixed. It took away from her character in my honest opinion, but yeah it is what it is. She deserves a much better comic to be in though.
kique is actually sexist. you can see it in how female characters are always weak, shoved into being forgotten off screen in some way and punished one way or another (abusive relationships, gaslit, constantly told they’re wrong and story forces them to be wrong. taking back seats to male charecters.)
while kique super pampers the males in every way. a rapist? you’re forgiven! verbally abusive? UwU you’re just in “emotional chains”. disobeyed orders? forgiven because you were perfectly right to do so somehow. leader of a rapist clan? UwU you just had a bad child hood, now become war general of our clan to lead some rebellion.
Dude Ikr?, the fact that he simps for ranach is so disturbing as he’s a literal rapist, it’s one thing to enjoy a villan for who their character are. but the fact that he paints ranach as a villian because he was “abused” and what not. it’s really no excuse as ranch probably did those things at his own free will. daddy issues or not . He’s a terrible and sick person and the fact that he’s really only a villian cause he got the boot and gets his ass kicked half the time, it’s pathetic. He’s gotten no real consequnces since and just gets what he wants, sleeping around with ever damn male in southspear.
As now for Rogio, god I hate his character even more. He so annoying and should of just died in that page, his character is also pointless and only around because he preyed on someone who was literally venting about his dead friend and the dude was just thinking about his sexual needs. His traits: “Gentle, observant, loyal, courageous, tolerant, trustworthy” Lmao where kique where? He’s nothing but a selfish bastard who again did nothing for rape victiums which he knew about for 2 years?, I’m not exactly sure, but my point still stands lol he did nothing and just wants to bang everyone in adera. like he went from being horny for rhov to roamer so quickly. I really don’t understand why people like his character.
And i’m honestly shocked that kique even had 2 girlfriends in the past if he hates woman so much, like bro what? XD Just because he is trans doesn’t give you the right to be sexist or if you are, like I don’t know dude, keep it to yourself?, What did woman ever do to you? it makes you look even worse ontop of everyhting else. Also no hate on Trans people, I’m just stating something from all the past drama.
There’s also the fact that no female character in this comic can have a happy relationship. Ronja with Romiboy and Ranach‚ Ferah with the beard guy‚ the red wolf girl and Rhov‚ without naming all of them. And the worst of all‚ that black dog who was with Fuss happy with a puppy but nooo let’s kill her mate without reason because women should be miserable
I see what you mean, you’re 100% right. Like I don’t see why every female needs a partner and can’t just enjoy being a free spirit on their own, as well as enjoy life.
For example: Ferah. ok so, she’s a rape victim that was used by MT countless times as so claimed in the earlier pages, you’d expect her to have some significant trauma and thinking about a partner would be the last thing on her mind, I get that she’s supposed to be a strong (kinda) female character. But I think she’d in reality be having panic attacks or be weary around males especially, with the exception of kargo being her childhood friend. she would be realistically reacting from a protective reflex.
Moving forward. I was deeply disappointed in the break up with Jahla and Rhov, plus it was the worst break up in history XD, there was no emotion at all. It just felt like a “ok bye” and that was it. Rhov isn’t my favorite character, but I liked their relationship as I feel like he challenged Jahla whenever they had an argument, both sides had their own point of views and opinions which is totally fine and valid. They just had to learn to work together regarding the situation about father and his crew.I was hoping they would have been the OP couple that won and worked out, because boy oh boy. I do not like Rome at all, there is nothing interesting about that guy at all and he’s done nothing but be a “yes’ ‘ man to Jahla since. Then claimed he basically “loves” her and I was like “bro you barely even know her” same goes for Jahla too, considering the fact that she’s supposed to be the more standoffish character or someone shouldn’t be all buddy buddy with right away. And I don’t know why she likes Rome either. Other than that, he claimed to be another “earth” dog. But I guess she’s into bad boys cause he almost killed his tribe with those bulls >.>. For the moral of those two, it’s just soly going to be based on “hybrids’ ‘ and probably that old terrier fursona kique had with the akiulfr crest that was the inspiration for that.
Plus the thought of the upcoming racism they’ll have towards those hybrids is just a bomb fire waiting to happen, as these dogs can’t clearly handle Jahla existing and her brothers tribe. The rest of the relationship stuff is just not worth mentioning as it’s the most forced thing i’ve seen, kargo and roamer was fine but the rest are stupid.
Not only the girls tho‚ every character in this comic needs a partner and while I’m a romantic person that’s not… Not everyone is made for couple life but you know what? If It was well written It would be okay‚ but no‚ Kique is awful at writting romance and the mxm ships are the only succesful ones. Relationships with girls involved always fail.
Ferah could search for a relationship even having trauma because It’s something that happens in real life as well but I’m pretty sure it must be hard but nope‚ no struggle from her because Kique is also terrible at writting trauma.
Don’t get me started in the JahlaRhov thing… my own theory Is that he broke them up because he prefers irish terriers over german shepherds now.
Rome is boring and their relationship isn’t “challenging” at least Rhov questioned Jahla and helped with her development‚ heck she even decided to stay in Earth with him but another big nope. Two months apart and their feelings are dropped and Rhov hooks Up with boring Mufasa boot leg which since you mentioned hybrids‚ I think they may have offspring so we also gonna get ugly feline canines who will be super annoying omfg I’m an animal lover but I want all these characters to die (except Aira)
Honestly, at this point I just think kique put in rape into his comic to make it more “interesting” yet like many have said, it is very poorly written and the characters would not act like that, like ffs severe truama like that can lead to suicidal tendecies. But nope, apparently rape isn’t that severe in this comic only Rogio’s “trauma” and that he’s soooo tourmented by it oh boo hoo we gotta kiss rogio’s ass and feel sorry for him. I’m sorry but that guy has no trauma whatsoever lol, if kique wasn’t lazy in his writing he would of hinted or showed his so cliamed truama in earlier pages. It was 100% rogio’s choice to be in a “toxic” relationship and honestly it’s clear he enjoyed it as he got so bent out of shape when ronja became the viscountess. He just got all moody because he was kicked from luxary and did dick shit for anyone. It was just thrown in there because kargo at that point was getting all the love and attention (as he should) from fans cause rogio is a bad person.
Also “Mufasa bootleg” XD best thing I read. But I’m not a fan of that ship either, kique just copying Zahir’a and Ramio’s relationship just for the fan service really, I just never saw some real chemistry between rhov and feaf as if anyhting it feels all forced upon do to rhov lying to feaf when joining the guild.
The whole you “owe me” quote is just ugh, feaf you should of left him to defend for himself and now your forcefully stuck with this guy cause he took your v-card.
But yeah fr all these characters need to die, well for me with the exception of Ronja and Aira. I don’t think ronja is that bad of a character, she’s not great and a crappy leader. but cant really blame her since she’s written by a sexist and she needs a males help 24/7 :/. At least we need the 3 R’s gone from this comic (romaer , rogio and ranch) especially since there is going be a third one after this comic smh.
Ugh I hate Rogio so much. If “playing the victim” had a face It would be Rogio’s
Totally agree with Rhov and Feaf‚ they have no chemistry. It’s not like Jahla and Rhov had good development but at least you could sense chemistry but nope bye bye decent couple. Rhov hooks up with Mufasa boot leg (glad you like the name lmao) two hours after breaking out with gf. So GROSS.
God‚ a third one? How TF
Also “Ranch” 😂
Interesting read. May I recommend some comics?
https://kestrelisland.thecomicseries.com/ Personally, I think this comic has a good story.
I haven’t also seen you give first impressions on https://asunder-comic.thecomicseries.com/
Thanks for the recommendations! Krestrel Island seems interesting enough to check out.
I know a little about Asunder and read a few pages. I think I’ll probably let it get further along before investing any time in it.
Thanks for the recommendations!
