Home—When Fan Excuses go Even Further Than Kique’s

Featured Post Image - Home—When Fan Excuses go Even Further Than Kique’s

An interesting line of discussion broke out on page 598 of Home. The question of whatever happened to Ronja and Vigr’s plan to lure Ranach into a trap using Rogio’s scent was brought up. While the majority of replies wondered the same thing, one fan decided they knew what happened. Roamer used Rogio’s items, of course. Never mind the fact that this never actually happened in the comic itself. Kique is the king of “Tell, don’t show.” We never saw this happen in the comic, so I’m not sure what the basis for that statement was. Don’t take my word for it, see for yourself.

The original thread that got it all started from Bughs.

Overthemoon’s comment about Roamer carrying some of Rogio’s stuff on him.

Let’s take a look at the page they’re referring to:

Screenshot 2020 06 05 Home
Ronja mentions Roamer using Rogio’s scent, but him having items is never stated.

Perhaps he was carrying them anyway? Let’s see.

Edit: On this screen shot, something is hanging out of Roamer’s waistband, but it is never seen beyond this panel.

One more edit of mine. I just noticed on the original Smackjeeves page that Roamer doesn’t even HAVE the cloth in his waistband.

Screenshot 2020 06 05 Page 421 Home Smack Jeeves

I’m betting Ronja’s dialogue on that page was edited to have Roamer specifically being the one to carry Rogio’s scent, but the visual edit came after the comic moved to ComicFury.

Screenshot 2020 06 05 Home3

Screenshot 2020 06 05 Home4

From the screen shots taken of Roamer from various angles it is clear that he’s not holding a pouch, or anything indicating that he had some of Rogio’s stuff on paw. (Edit: I did notice a cloth hanging out of Roamer’s waistband. That could have been coated in Rogio’s scent, but it is never seen beyond page 421. If it had been on more pages, it could have cemented the fact that they never got the chance to use the cloth, versus Kique forgetting to convey this fact to the audience. Even more amusing is that this cloth wasn’t in the Smackjeeves version of the page.) The strap going across his shoulder was just to hold the armor plate on, nothing more. So the idea of carrying some of Rogio’s stuff to use as a lure was either Overthemoon seriously misremembering, or outright making it up as they went along.

Honestly, the plan to use Rogio’s scent to lure out Ranach was forgotten immediately. You could argue that they were attacked by Avanti, but Roamer didn’t even try to lure him out. After all, nine dogs went out to fight. Not including Jonna who was killed, Fuss who was fatally injured, and Galti and Alva who sustained minor injuries, there were five dogs who could still fight. Once the shrine was burned down, Roamer could have gone with someone else to at least TRY to lure Ranach. Or once it started it raining, they could have called the operation off for fear of the scent being washed away, but they didn’t even try. And to reiterate, Roamer had nothing on him belonging to Rogio.

Nor did anyone else. That bag Fuss was carrying? It was full of the match sticks to light the fire. Everyone else had knives on them.

It wouldn’t be surprising if Kique went back and edited page 421 to reflect what this fan was saying. He’s certainly done dialogue edits in the past.

Comments are getting filtered again as more plot holes are unearthed.

Especially the latest page with Rome romancing Jahla. Loads of comments got removed. I don’t understand the point of the changing the plot as shit floats up. Write down your own tidbits that you put into the storyline to keep track if stuff tends to fall through the holes. This is typical of Kique. He can’t handle when people point out his own story flaws. xD

I don’t like Rome, he is shoved unto the reader and we are expected to like him. Why? He is clearly an asshole and yet again an abuse victim, so we must pity him. Why don’t males in the tribe rape other males, like the female rape trope in other tribes? This is so misogynistic to female characters. The author clearly doesn’t understand or bothers to care for female plot lines. I want to see some lesbian romance too (we get male on male romance shoved on each page) instead of the dog dicks/balls so carefully drawn in regard.

Thanks for your thoughts, it is lovely to see your posts. =]

I’ve heard and I saw the low amount of comments and figured he wasn’t letting them through. Some people who leave critical comments never see their comments get through. Even fans who previously haven’t questioned Home.

People can see for themselves this story isn’t adding up. I didn’t know comments were removed regarding the previous page. Thanks for sharing that.

And Kique is adding new characters and plots to coverup what he’s been ignoring with other characters and plots. It’s almost like he’s bored with his own story and keeps adding these things to keep himself interested, the plot be damned. Honestly, I wish he’d stayed away from the entire rape as a plotline, but I get where you’re coming from. I don’t even think he’s fully aware of how much misogyny Home oozes. As for the female perspective, he’s said in the past on DA how he can’t relate to females. Which is baffling. Women are people, just write them like people. XD And if it’s okay to draw dick and balls all the time nipples should be okay as well.

I’m just shaking my head at how far Home as fallen compared to Asmundr in every respect.

You’re very welcome! I’m glad you’re enjoying the posts. 😀

The plan was for the whole tribe to wait by the walls while Roamer used Rogio’s scent to lure Ranach towards it. Once at the walls, they were supposed to ambush him. That is what Ronja said. That was the plan they thought of. What was shown, however, was the whole Oblivion be damned tribe going out on a stroll, getting picked out one by one and essentially failing. The plan was never pulled through, and adding a piece of cloth to Roamer’s waist as an afterthought does not fix the fact the plan was never executed as it was intended. It IS a Plothole.

This guy… really, he’s so irritating. He’s so insecure the idea of not being perfect is overwhelming for him, yet at the same time he’s not trying anything to do things the right way. All he does is block people who dare point out the mistakes in the story or do minor edits to say; “see? See? Everything was planned out!”. No, no it’s not, stop treating us as if we were idiots.

No wonder people are pointing out Romé and Jahla’s romance. So far it’s the worst of all. The most rushed and underdeveloped. We did not need another character, less one that become’s Jahla’s love interest. I would not have minded if Jahla ended up dating Thakir, if the story was well developed, but why toss in this guy?

There are too many characters and the story has long lost its track. It’s so obvious the author doesn’t have a clue of what to do with it, and the fact he keeps trying to tell us that he has everything planned out and it’s us that don’t see it is insulting.

Spot on!

Kique’s habit of retconning to make up for mistakes, but not really fixing them is wearing then. You would think he’d move that forward to improve the story, but nope. Home just keeps getting worse. He needs to come clean and admit he never had a solid script for Home or abandoned it early because everyone can see this is the case.

Since Kique moved comic to new webpage in Dec. 2019 and left comment section open, I have been wondering how long it will take him to get offended enough to close it down. Aaaaand… in Aug. 2020, after (constructive) critique of fans of illogical thing between Ranach and Koegos on page 613, he finally has done it. No more place for you, you ungreatfull haters 🙂
Before he has closed comment secton, the were a few interesting discussions between readers under that page, which confirmed what you have writen in this article. There people claiming that it was perfectly logical for Koegos to hit on Ranach, ’cause a) Southspear tribe worships demon/deity of lust: b)whole “tribe of lust” thing is shown with their bodypaintings, clothes, symbols and behavior c) Koegos was giving Ranach clear signals.
About a) and b), I’ve checked ALL the pages with Southspear tribe plotline and there is NO info about theirs belief, rituals, culture etc. Their paintings and symbols consist of black skulls and bones, black paint on eyes and muzzles with red and white elements. For me those look more like death themed, than lust themed, or as something like painted equivalent of masks used to hide your identity. They also behave like bunch of criminals, ready to kill any stranger. Because of that Southspear dogs seem to be bunch of outlavs, murderers, even cannibals but I can’t see the “lust” thing on any page they appear.
And for the latter, Koegos have spoken with Ranach like once and mostly warned him of the way his tribe treats outsiders. Later they didn’t really interacted and Koegos acted like typical for Kique characters cocky jerk (or maybe that was ment to be flirting???)

(I’m non native english speaker. Feel free to corect any spelling/grammar mistakes or ask if you didn’t undderstand something.)

Honestly I was wondering how long it would take Kique to close comments since the move. I’m surprised they stayed open this long. But I think he needs theories to swipe from his readers so they might not stay closed on future pages.

I saw that discussion and screen capped a few comments. I was thinking about writing a new article about the page. I fully agree with you, Koegos coming on to Ranach came out of no where. All the reasons you listed where what I saw. I had to stop reading comments on that page because his white knights were getting annoying.

But there was no foreshadowing for the tent scene and people who insist there was are just making it up.

Thanks for the comment!

I just read what Kique posted on his comic page. His condescending attitude and that way of treating his readers as if they were idiots pisses me off so much. This monstrosity is over 600 pages long, I think he’s way beyond the point of asking his readers to be patient.

Silver Evil Pen By Nabisco Parodies
Silver Huskey says:

If anything, Kique should be begging his readers for patience. It’s been what, three or four years since Home got started and this comic has barely gotten anywhere story-wise. I can’t even say I care that updates are only once a week now because there’s so many better comics out there to read. If this wasn’t a case study on how not to write a comic, I’m sure people would have quit reading Home a long time ago.

Signatus
Signatus says:

In all honesty, if I wasn’t writing these entries I would have quit about two years ago. It’s just not worth it. It’s a badly written story that’s not getting anywhere, and the author’s attitude is off putting at best. It’s so obvious he’s just making this thing up as he goes, it’s irritating and insulting that he wants to pretend otherwise and treats his readers with contempt, as if they were too stupid to see the master plot he’s weaved. Come on, man, this thing is over 600 pages long, it’s not going ANYWHERE. The very least you should do is be honest and not insult me because I point out the OBVIOUS.

Silver Huskey says:

Yeah. Home was an entertainingly bad train wreck to read. Now it’s just a chore. I don’t get what currently fans see in this comic, any potential it had is long gone. Kique’s updates have slowed down to a crawl. He only updates his Patreon once a week/every week and a half with new pages, where he used to do one every other day. I bet he’s also tired of Home and is too prideful and stubborn to admit it.

I would actually love to see the comments that got hidden. I was one of the readers who insisted that Koegos love scene wasn’t a smooth transition. Kique should have just added the stupid mutt to the evening group and have him follow Ranach into the tent.

I would have been okay with everything if at least Koegos sneaked into the tent and waited on Ranach to come in. Then more understandable.

Could you do a small post on the topic please? If not too much to ask. =D

Thanks for the the comment! It would have made way more sense to have Koegos at the fire, his lust for Ranach came outta nowhere.

Given how many comments I’m getting, I should do a post. (Besides, I haven’t updated in a while. The other blog and work have been keeping me busy.)
